Implementing policies to better adapt to climate change
The effects of climate change are already being felt throughout Quebec, particularly in the north where the melting ice leaves no one skeptical about global warming. In order to address this issue, several government bodies have adopted a climate change adaptation strategy.
A climate change adaptation strategy is a roadmap aimed at increasing a community’s resilience to this issue. It is with this in mind that Nunavik has adapted such a strategy based on 4 pillars:
- Advance Nunavik Inuit self-determination and equity.
- Protect Nunavimmiut health, well-being and culture.
- Maintain and protect built infrastructure in communities.
- Improve delivery of essential services.
