Founded in 2014, Mitshuap Kuessipan, which means “pay it forward”, offers various services to combat poverty including a food distribution service, a meals-on-wheels service and a clothing bank.
Twice a week, members of the community of Ekuanitshit who are in need can visit the organization to purchase food. These people can leave with 11 food items including two meat selections. Each week, approximately 45 people benefit from this service.
Twice a month, Mitshuap Kuessipan distributes prepared meals to the community’s seniors. These meals sometimes include traditional dishes such as bustard, game, or salmon.
The foodstuffs come from a food distributor. To finance its food purchases, Mitshuap Kuessipan particularly relies on food drives.
